PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The U.S. has the highest rate of maternal death in the developed world, and one Arizona nonprofit is doing Something Good to help connect families across the state and provide resources as they navigate the postpartum period.

The 4th Trimester Arizona conference is back for an eighth year to celebrate parenthood. Attendees can learn how to support their mental, physical and emotional health postpartum. Twelve sessions will be held, including parenting styles, maternal mental health, postpartum for dads, parental leave hacks and more.

“The organization is definitely focused on providing that support to mamas so they don’t feel alone and they have more resources to pull from,” said Genesis Holmes, Pueblo Village Leader with 4th Trimester AZ.

The conference will be held on Saturday, Feb. 22, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the i.d.e.a. Museum near Main and Center streets.

“Our communities are very important to us, especially through support. This conference really allows everybody to come together into that home space to learn, to feel supportive and to continue to grow,” said Casandra Stouder, Indigenous Parents Support Village Leader, 4th Trimester Arizona.
