A man was shot and killed by Houston police Saturday after a crash on the North Freeway.

It happened just after 4 p.m. in the 10700 block of North Freeway. Officers had been called to the scene for a traffic accident.

Authorities say the man was involved in an accident with another car but left the scene.

Police later found him in a parking lot at 10718 North Freeway. They say the man approached them with a gun. That’s when officers fired their weapons, hitting the man. He died at the scene.

None of the officers were hurt.
