Let's celebrate Colorado!

On August 1, 1876 – exactly 100 years and 27 days after the signing of the Declaration of Independence – President Ulysses S. Grant signed Proclamation 230, making Colorado the 38th state in the union, hence the official nickname, "the Centennial State."

Now, August 1 is regarded as "Colorado Day", where Coloradans and local businesses come together to observe the history, culture, breathtaking natural landscapes, and everything else that makes Colorado one of the world's best places to live.  

This year's Colorado Day marks the 143rd birthday of our beloved state and to celebrate many local institutions will likely be offering freebies, special deals, and contests.

Already confirmed for this year, Colorado-born Alpine Bank will be hosting a drawing for a Colorado-proud Otterbox cooler, and if it's anything like last year, we're sure there's more to come. So stay tuned! We'll keep you updated as we hear more events being held in honor of Colorado Day.

In fact, we wouldn't surprised if Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) ended up doing the same thing as last year – waiving its entrance fees to all 42 state parks in 2018.
