Local attorney Frank Azar donated $50,000 to a new youth club!
Supporting local youth is a worthy cause, and one that helps guarantee a better future for us all. That’s why youth clubs like the one opening in Trinidad are so important, and why making sure they’re funded is vital to the youth in the area. Local attorney Frank Azar sees the importance of this youth club as well. It’s opening in his hometown of Trinidad, so he has had a front-row seat to some of the issues facing youth in the area. When he heard about the youth club opening, he knew he had to get involved.
On Wednesday, January 4, Azar donated a check worth $50,000 to the club, the first part of a four-year $200,000 commitment overall. On the Tuesday prior to his donation, the city council of Trinidad voted on and approved matching each of his donations.
After Azar donated, he spoke about the serious problems facing youth in Trinidad, such as substance abuse and addiction, difficulty getting an education, and broken families. He thinks there is great benefit in a grass-roots effort to support local youth. The Club’s Board Chairman, Carlos Lopez, said that volunteers still have a lot of work lined up to make a March opening date. Fundraising will continue as the club and the volunteers involved work towards an end goal of becoming a full-fledged member of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. They’re hoping to reach that goal within three years.
