EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) – One of only two airworthy B-29 Superfortresses in the world has touched down at the Evansville Wartime Museum this spring as part of the History Restored Tour.

The historic B-29 known as DOC will be on display May 8–11, 2025, offering visitors a rare chance to tour the aircraft and experience what it was like to fly one of World War II’s bombers. The tour is one of several stops across the country celebrating the legacy of American aviation.

Built in Wichita, Kansas, DOC is one of 1,644 B-29s produced by Boeing during World War II. The aircraft has been meticulously restored and is operated by a dedicated team committed to preserving its history.

DOC arrived in Evansville on Thursday, May 8. Visitors were able to purchase tickets for a once-in-a-lifetime ride aboard the B-29 during the DOC Flight Experience on Saturday and Sunday, May 10–11, with flights departing at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. both days.
