BALTIMORE — Baltimore City Fire is on the scene of a seven-alarm fire at a mattress warehouse in West Baltimore.

Firefighters are currently battling the blaze in the area of Edmondson Avenue and Bentalou Street.

Officials say the call came in just before 7:00 pm Monday evening.

Firefighters arrived at the scene and found heavy fire and smoke showing, and a fourth alarm was then raised around 7:22 pm.

As crews continued to try to get the fire under control, a fifth alarm was raised, followed by a sixth alarm and later a seventh.

At this time, no injuries have been reported.

According to the Maryland Transit Administration, MARC train service on the Penn line is cancelled for Tuesday morning because of the fire. Passengers are being told to use the Camden line or other alternatives.

Over 200 firefighters are battling the blaze.

Residents are asked to avoid the area at this time.

The Red Cross of the National Capital & Greater Chesapeake Region is working with Baltimore City partners to help people who have been displaced by the fire.

The residents from 15 households evacuated from the 600 block of North Bentalou Street will be temporarily housed by Baltimore in a hotel.
