Both of the popular museums will close their doors on November 25, with scheduled reopenings in January 2021.
Citing the spread of COVID-19, two popular Baltimore museums, Baltimore Museum of Art (BMA) and The Walters Art Museum, are closing for the holiday season. Tourists and locals alike have just one last day to enjoy their favorite works of art up close.
With COVID-19 cases on the rise and the holidays upon us, we’ve decided to temporarily close our galleries beginning at 5pm on Nov. 25 with plans to reopen on Jan. 6, 2021.

Just because you can't visit in person doesn't mean you can't enjoy the artwork, though. The Walters has a virtual museum program that lets you browse to your heart's content. They've also got free printable coloring pages that will keep you occupied for hours. Unleash your inner Monet!

If you're in the area, BMA's famous sculpture gardens will remain open during the temporary closure. You can drop by and visit them Wednesday-Sunday as long as you maintain proper social distancing and wear a face covering.
Kids will love the BMA's "Free Family Sunday" series of DIY arts and crafts. You can sign up here to receive a weekly email with each fun project.

You can continue to support the arts by shopping at the museums' online stores. The BMA store is offering free shipping through December and it stocks tons of unique gifts, books, and jewelry.
For more information about the temporary closures of these two museums, keep an eye on their official websites (The Baltimore Museum of Art or The Walters Art Museum), their Twitter accounts, or their Facebook pages. It will be January before we know it!
What are your thoughts on these closures: are they a good idea to stop the spread, or do you think they're a bit much? Sound off in the comments!
