The festival features six bands on the concert stage and a "200’ Street Pub."
Wilson Boulevard will be atwitter with music this weekend as Bands & Brews on the Boulevard hits the Ballston area. There will be six bands and a "Street Pub" that spans 200 feet! The event organizers promise a "family-friendly" environment and the festival is free to the public.
This summer has been all about getting back to some level of normalcy and what better way to celebrate with your neighbors than with a huge neighborhood music festival?
Learn more about road closures this weekend.
Local non-profit Ballston Gives is hosting the event. As the "charitable arm" of the Ballston Business Improvement District, the organization has donated more than $200,000 to local charities and nonprofits in Arlington since it was formed in 2012. Various benefits have been held for "organizations working to end hunger, homelessness, domestic violence, and more." For this event, proceeds will go towards the Ballston Bartender Relief Fund.
Although you are welcome to bring a water bottle and enjoy the music, the Street Pub will be open for the entire event, funding the charitable cause. Beer, wine, and select cocktails will be available for the festivities. You can, of course, buy drinks at the Street Pub the day of the festival—but if you are interested in saving some time as the bar is bound to be pretty darn busy—drink tickets are available for purchase online ahead of time.
And what's a music festival without music? There will be two stages with performances spanning throughout the day. The Wilson Boulevard stage will feature:
- DJ Touch Basis, 11 a.m.–8 p.m.
- Andrew Savoia and Fordson Labs: 11 a.m.–12 p.m.
- Turtle Recall, 12:30–1:30 p.m.
- Junkfood, 2–3:15 p.m.
- Popstar Drive, 3:45-5:15 p.m.
- Aztec Sun, 5:45–7 p.m.
- Bobby McKeys Dueling Pianos, 7–7:45 p.m
And, sponsored by the Piedmont Office Realty Trust, the Welburn Square Stage line up is:
- TBD, 12–1:30 p.m.
- Avant Bard Theatre, 2–3:30 p.m.
- Lucia Valentine, 4–5:30 p.m.
This is the inaugural Bands & Brews on the Boulevard, but it sounds like it's going to be a blast! Hopefully, we'll be seeing more of these in the summers to come.
