The Alexandria baseball team only pushed across one run in Monday’s game against Moorhead as an Evan Zabel sacrifice fly allowed Jackson Waltzing to score in the top of the first inning.

But that’s all the offense that the Cardinals needed in Moorhead on May 19, 2025, as Griffin Wimmer and Landon Gess-Norling pitched a combined shutout in Alexandria’s 1-0 win over Moorhead (6-9).

Wimmer earned the win on the mound, as he struck out nine batters in six innings while only allowing three hits and one walk.

Gess-Norling made the save on Monday. He struck out one batter and allowed one walk in one inning pitched.

Alexandria (12-4) hits the road to face Marshall at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Osakis clips Wadena-Deer Creek



A Wyatt Klimek 2-run home run in the top of the first inning gave the Osakis baseball team an early lead over Wadena-Deer Creek on Monday.

Osakis led 3-1 heading to the bottom of the sixth inning, but Wadena-Deer Creek scored on a fielder’s choice to cut Osakis’ lead to 3-2.

The Silverstreaks responded in the top of the seventh inning, as Reggie George, who stole four bases on Monday, scored on a wild pitch to take a 4-2 lead.

Wadena-Deer Creek scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh inning, but Osakis held on to win 4-3.

Osakis (5-12) hosts Sauk Centre at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

3-run 2nd inning leads No. 6 Parkers Prairie to win over Menahga



A three-run second inning gave the Parkers Prairie baseball team the edge it needed in Monday’s game against Menahga.

A run on a walk and a Benelli Myers 2-RBI single gave the sixth-ranked Panthers (Class A) a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning.

Menahga scored a pair of runs in the top of the sixth inning, but the Panthers held on to win 3-2 and improve to 15-3 on the season.

Myers earned the win on the mound for the Panthers on Monday, striking out four batters in six innings.

No. 6 Parkers Prairie (15-3) hosts No. 9 Brandon-Evansville (13-4) at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
