Legacy Christian Academy on Feb. 15, at the Breakdown Winter Lakes Classic at Alexandria High School, delivered in the clutch again for Osakis on Monday, Feb. 24, as he hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 30 seconds left to help Osakis get a 65-62 win on the road. “This was another test of their character and grit as it took all 36 minutes to get the win,” Osakis head coach Matt Hoelscher said. “We did a lot of good things to climb back into this game. I’m proud of our guys for not giving up and playing until the end.” Wyatt Klimek led Osakis’ offense with 18 points, while Andrew Jones finished with 14. Seth Staloch finished with a double-double, as he had 13 points and 14 rebounds.

The Alexandria boys basketball team increased its winning streak to 21 with an 83-45 win over Bemidji at home on Monday. Alexandria (21-3) led 44-30 at halftime and held Bemidji (14-10) to 15 points in the second half. Mason Witt anchored the Cardinals’ offense with 26 points, followed by Chase Thompson’s 21 and Gavin Roderick’s 13.

The Brandon-Evansville girls basketball team, who is the No. 7 seed in the south sub-section of Section 6A, defeated the No. 10 seed Ortonville (0-27), 63-32, on Monday in Brandon to advance to the next round of the playoffs. Laila Schroeder led Ashby, the No. 9 seed in the south sub-section of Section 6A, in scoring on Monday with 19 points. Benson, the No. 8 seed in the south sub-section of Section 6A, plays at the No. 1 seed Breckenridge (21-5) at 7 p.m. on Thursday. The winner of that game plays either the No. 5 seed Parkers Prairie (16-10) or the No. 4 seed Wheaton-Herman-Norcross (15-11) at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Minnewaska High School. Parkers Prairie plays at WHN at 7 p.m. on Thursday in Wheaton. The south sub-section final is at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at Minnewaska High School.
