Write your own magnum opus with the help of Broadway's biggest name

Ever wanted to write your own play? Have a song brewing in the back of your mind? Allow Lin-Manuel Miranda to show you the ropes with an exciting program you can complete at home!

The Hamilton creator has announced EduHam at Home, a digital version of his theater program in partnership with The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. EduHam, or Hamilton Education Program, lets teens explore American history through the lens of theatrical performance. Students can learn about the Founding Fathers and use historical documents to write their own pieces, much like the creative process that brought the show to life. As one of Broadway's biggest names, we can't think of a better person to learn from!

With schools closed around the country, Miranda seeks to provide a space for students and families alike to create and learn.

“Out of everything that has come from Hamilton, I am most proud of #EduHam and of the students who have created their own incredible work from primary sources,” Miranda said in a statement. “I’m thrilled that we can make Hamilton learning a family experience, led by the students at home during this unprecedented time.”

The original program is offered in schools nationwide—over 200,000 kids have participated since beginning in 2016—but the digital version has just as many perks. A virtual classroom will hold access to primary sources, along with interviews with the cast of Hamilton to inspire students on their creative projects that can cover rap, poetry, and spoken word. Participants will also be able to submit their work for a chance to be shown on social media, including the Hamilton app!

While the program is intended for students between grades 6-12, people of all ages are welcome to join. Did we mention it's free? We are so excited to get our creative juices flowing!
