BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - Berkeley County deputies have arrested a man they say led them on a chase in a stolen car. Dominique Anthony Roberts, 23, of North Charleston, is charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a violent felony and second-offense failure to stop for blue lights. These charges stem from an incident Saturday night in which deputies were patrolling in the Ridgeville area, near Camp Hall. During these patrols, one deputy noticed a car that had been reported stolen by the North Charleston Police Department and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. Roberts did not stop, at which point a pursuit began, according to deputies. They were successfully able to deploy stop sticks, deflating the front passenger tire of the car and causing Roberts to lose control of the vehicle, which finally stopped in a grassy area of I-26 and the College Park Road on-ramp. Deputies arrested Roberts and found a Taurus Brasil .38 special revolver resting in plain view on the driver’s side floorboard. Roberts was booked into the Hill-Finklea Detention Center where he was being held on a $29,125 total bond.
