Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Deon Cain is heading back to the UFL. Cain, who has played in two seasons with the Birmingham Stallions, will join the team once again. Cain spent time in the 2025 season with the Buffalo Bills and Carolina Panthers, but the Bills released him in December. Since that time, he has not found another team or practice squad to join on even a reserve/future contract, and it seems that he is heading back to the UFL to earn another NFL chance. In 2023, he signed with the Philadelphia Eagles but was not re-signed on their practice squad. A sixth-round pick out of Clemson in the 2018 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts, his journey in the NFL started there. However, he lasted just one full season in Indianapolis before the Steelers plucked him up in 2019 amid multiple injuries to their wide receiver room. Cain made some standout plays in the run with Mason Rudolph and Duck Hodges at quarterback. Yet, the Steelers moved on in 2020, where he went to the divisional rivals, the Baltimore Ravens. He suffered a training camp injury and was released from injured reserve, where the Eagles added him to the mix. In 2021 and 2022, Cain spent time in Philadelphia before being released and not signing a deal to get into an NFL training camp, so he signed with the USFL’s Stallions. While with the Stallions, he earned the USFL Championship Game MVP after catching three touchdowns , and turning heads as a result of his play. The 28-year-old Cain has won back-to-back championships with the Stallions.
