Always be cautious when heading into nature because you never know what you'll run into, literally. According to Yosemite National Park, ultra-runner Jon-Kyle Mohr was running through the national park when he collided with a large black bear. Yes, he ran into a black bear.

Mohr saw a large dark shape coming at him, then felt "some sharpness," in his shoulder, he told the Los Angeles Times. He was then shoved. Once he could get back up, he turned to see headlamps and people shouting, "Bear!"

He had been running for 15 hours and 59 minutes before the encounter. Mohr had less than a mile left in his 50-mile run when he collided with the bear.

"It was just a really strange, random collision," he told the Times. "If I had rested my feet for 20 seconds longer at any point over the 16 hours, it wouldn’t have happened."

Mohr was treated by medics and got bandaged up, but he didn't go to a hospital.

Mohr said he felt lucky and that "if it seriously wanted to inflict any kind of actual harm, it totally could have."

If you ever encounter a bear, the National Park Services recommends making noise, yelling "as loudly and aggressively as possible at the bear until it leaves." Never approach, chase, or throw anything at a bear.
