Florida football’s recruiting efforts hit the road this week as Billy Napier’s army of coaches disperses to connect with top prep prospects from around the region. One of the stops made was by co-offensive coordinator Rob Sale and wide receivers coach Billy Gonzales, who paid a visit to Riverview (Florida) Sumner to check in on the high school program’s talent.

The latter managed to touch base with four-star wide receiver Tyler Williams in the 2025 cycle, who listed the Gators among his top 13 schools last month. The 6-foot-2-inch, 187-pound pass-catcher has been feeling the love from Gonzales and appears to be on the verge of setting an official visit with the Orange and Blue.

“It was good, but every time I talk to him is always a good conversation. I really like Coach Gonzales. We have really good conversations and he seems to like talking to me. Away from in-person, I talk to him multiple times a week,” Williams told Swamp247 .

“So we are always in touch, so things have been very consistent with Florida. We have a good vibe for sure, and I enjoy talking to him. It’s not all the time about recruiting, so I like that.”

Williams released his top-13 schools list via Twitter on April 9, which included the Miami Hurricanes, Alabama Crimson Tide , Georgia Bulldogs , Syracuse Orange, UCF Knights, Missouri Tigers, Auburn Tigers , Ole Miss Rebels, West Virginia Mountaineers, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Louisville Cardinals and Texas A&M Aggies , in addition to Florida.

However, that list will inevitably be whittled down as crunch time nears but he is looking to keep his options open. If anything, Williams is seeking a bidding war for his talents.

“I think every school I am taking an OV with is going to have a spot on my list. Then there are some schools that I may not have an OV set with will have a seat at the table. Some schools could cancel each other out a little as stuff happens,” he stated.

Williams currently has an official visit set with Miami for the weekend of May 31, UCF for the weekend of June 7, Syracuse for the weekend of June 14 and Georgia wrapping things up on the weekend of June 21.

“Like, I don’t have a date set to Florida, but I will take one,” he added. “Ole Miss is possibly one for the fall. Those two right now are the only ones right now I’ve been looking at for a fall visit.”

“We actually talked about (an official visit) when he was by this past week, and he was happy to hear that I want to set one up with them in the fall. We just need to line up the dates and see what works. We will definitely get that done,” Williams notes.

We haven’t gotten exact dates, but we are definitely going to do an OV in the fall. I probably will visit sometime in the summer (for an unofficial visit). I definitely want to get up there. Even if it’s just to get around the team and coaches.”

“Maybe around midseason,” he said. “Not right on the date for the early signing period, but closer to it. November maybe more than October.”

“Really the only thing I want to get out of the OV is time around the staff,” he said. “I’ve seen a lot. I’ve been to games before, I’ve been to practice, and I’ve spent time around the team. So for me, the more I spend time around the staff, the more I get comfortable with them.”

“Being from Florida, my people are Florida fans. It’s just been around me for a long time because I got a lot of family that are Florida fans. Florida was something that’s always just been brought up and talked about. My stepmom graduated from there, so me and my brother always talked about going there. Just having a chance to play there is big.”

Williams is ranked No. 343 overall and No. 49 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 400 and 65, respectively.

On3’s recruiting prediction machine gives Miami a 29.2% chance of landing the Sunshine State product, followed by Georgia (20.6%), UCF (13.3%) and Syracuse (11.1%).
