OKLAHOMA — BlueCross BlueShield of Oklahoma (BCBSOK) said Blue Advantage PPO and Blue Preferred PPO members, who purchased their plans on or off the marketplace exchange, will no longer have access to out-of-state care. Out-of-state care will still be supported in the border counties of Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Arkansas and Missouri. BCBSOK said coverage for non-urgent and non-emergent out-of-service area care will only be available if adequate care is not available in the member's service area. Starting Jan. 1, required care may be available if a waiver is requested and granted. BCBSOK said out-of-state care will be denied if adequate care is available in-state or in contiguous counties. These members will be redirected to available, local in-network services. Services provided by in-network providers within the bordering counties do not require a waiver. There is no changes for urgent and emergency service, BCBSOK said. Both members and providers can request the waiver, but the member is responsible for securing it. Providers can request the waiver on behalf of the members. If members are approved for out-of-state care services, the services will be reimbursed at the in-network benefit level.
