Not that he needed any extra acclaim, but
Bob Dylan has been receiving plenty of positive media attention lately thanks to the new Oscar-nominated biopic based on his early music career,
A Complete Unknown . The heightened interest in the folk-rock legend likely will boost ticket sales when Dylan returns to the road this year.

Dylan Paid Tribute to The Band’s Garth Hudson
Meanwhile, Dylan took to his
X page on Monday, January 28, to post a tribute to late
Band keyboardist and sax player
Garth Hudson , who died January 21 at age 87. Hudson was the last surviving original member of the group. “Sorry to hear the news about Garth Hudson,” Dylan wrote. “He was a beautiful guy and the real driving force behind The Band. Just listen to the original recording of ‘
The Weight ’ and you’ll see.” Dylan collaborated frequently with the members of The Band, including Hudson, during the 1960s and ’70s. The group, then known as The Hawks, served as Bob’s touring band in 1965 and 1966. Dylan then famously recorded a bevy of demos with the musicians near Woodstock, New York, while Bob was recuperating there following a motorcycle accident. Many of those recordings were released in 1975 as
The Basement Tapes . Those collaborations also led to The Band creating its own original music. The group’s 1968 debut album,
Music from Big Pink , featured two songs co-written by Dylan. Hudson later played keyboards on Dylan’s 1970 studio album
Self Portrait . Dylan also recorded his 1974 album
Planet Waves with The Band, and embarked on a reunion tour with the group that same year. Sorry to hear the news about Garth Hudson. He was a beautiful guy and the real driving force behind The Band. Just listen to the original recording of The Weight and you’ll see.
