SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - The Booker High School varsity baseball team is taking advantage of watching Major League Baseball during Spring Training in Sarasota. The Tornadoes watched the Tampa Bay Rays defeat the Baltimore Orioles 6 to 3 at Ed Smith Stadium. Players say watching big league baseball is a learning experience.

“See what we need to work on, see what we can take from them and then put it into our game,” said Zakori Edmond.

According to the Booker High School Head Baseball coach Pat Sweeney a former coach helped provide thirty-two tickets.

“It’s a great opportunity for my boys to get out and see a different level of competition and see some guys who really know how to prefect their craft and have been doing it at a high level for a long time. So good exposure for our boys to get out and learn something today,” siad Pat Sweeney.

The Booker coaches, and players are hoping to apply the baseball techniques they watched during a Spring Training game they will never forget.
