WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) - The Boys and Girls Club of Wichita Falls is warning area residents about a potential scam it says is taking place at Wal-Marts around the area.

In a Facebook post from around 2 p.m., BGCWF said a person or persons have been outside near at least one Wal-Mart and asking people to scan a QR code to donate to BGCWF basketball teams.

“Those individuals are not sanctioned by us, the QR Code being used does not send funds to us, and they are in no way connected to or authorized by us to raise funds in our name. Please do not donate to them!” the Facebook post said.

BGCWF later added that they do not and will not fundraise via that method.
