Federal funding will pay for repairs to two local bridges this construction season. The bridges are on Evans Road in Millcreek and Old Lake Road in Springfield. Work will include bridge deck and barrier repairs, waterproofing, and road repairs on both sides of the bridges, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. The contractor for the two-bridge, $784,754 project will be Thomas Construction of Grove City.
Evans Road bridge
The bridge is over Mill Creek on a short spur of Evans Road, just south of West Gore Road. Construction is expected to begin March 31. One lane of the bridge will remain open during construction. There also may be temporary lane restrictions with flaggers controlling traffic at times. Work is expected to be completed by July. The Evans Road bridge was built in 1968 and is owned by Millcreek Township. Old Lake Road bridge
Work on the bridge over Raccoon Creek near Raccoon Park in Springfield will begin once work on the Evans Road bridge is finished, most likely in July. Traffic will be detoured onto Elmwood Road, Route 5 and Eagley Road for about two months. Construction is expected to be completed in September.
