Bridgwater United brought a run of defeats to an end after they drew 0-0 with St Blazey in their latest Western League Premier Division contest.

The Robins had lost three in a row before they welcomed St Blazey to Fairfax Park and managed to win a point.

The result leaves Bridgwater United in 15th with 37 points from 31 games.

The Robins made four changes from their defeat to Torpoint last month as Jamie Price, Jack Taylor, Wess Jenkins and Finlay Koppa all came in for Mark Armstrong, Kieran Ireland, Finlay Koppa and Bradley Pfupa.

Bridgwater made the faster start and on nine minutes there were shouts for a penalty, as Morgan Williams appeared to be tripped in the box, but shouts were waved away by the referee.

Four minutes later, a long ball found Michael Duffy unmarked but the St Blazey goalkeeper rushed out to smother.

The Robins continued to push for a goal and on 25 minutes Hayden Chambers had an effort soar over the crossbar.

But just shy of the half hour, Bridgwater were reminded of the danger of not taking their chances as goalkeeper Liam Kingston had to make close quarter saves to keep St Blazey out.

On 35 minutes Duffy had another shot, this time into the arms of St Blazey goalkeeper Kyle Moore.

On the stroke of half time, Bridgwater United were losing their composure as Duffy was sent off for a two-footed lunge and Jamie Price was sent to the sin bin.

In the second half, St Blazey looked to drive home their player advantage as one of their players rounded Kingston and looked certain to score but for the intervention of Mark Armstrong.

Kingston was forced into another save on 67 minutes and St Blazey had a header wide on 72 minutes.

With 15 minutes to go, Bridgwater made a rare forage forwards and Noah Brown flashed an effort from 25 yards but the goalkeeper was equal to it.

On 83 minutes, Dylan Tate – who had come on for Preston Hopwood – flicked the ball on for Chambers but his shot was saved.

Bridgwater United secured the point in front of 264 fans at Fairfax Park.

Next up for the Robins is a trip to Shelton Mallet on Saturday (March 8).
