The Hippodrome Theatre will be hosting Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen, and more starting September 2021.
After a year spent waiting in the wings, Broadway will be returning to Charm City. On Tuesday, the Hippodrome Theatre detailed its plans for reopening this fall with the help of organizers from Broadway Across America. Starting in September, theater-goers will be able to enjoy hit productions like Tootsie, Hamilton, and Dear Evan Hansen, which comprise the seven of eight shows previously scheduled at the venue. The upcoming season kicks off with Pretty Woman: The Musical on September 28.
The theater was unable to renew To Kill A Mockingbird this time around, but they plan on incorporating it into a future season. SUMMER: The Donna Summer Musical, which was originally scheduled last April, will be offered as a season option for subscribers.
President Ron Legler expressed gratitude towards ticket-holders for their continued support in the wake of COVID-19's strain on the performing arts.
“We’re excited to announce rescheduled dates as we look forward to Broadway returning to the Hippodrome Theatre,” he said in a statement. "We all look forward to spending an evening with friends and family in the theatre, enjoying a nice dinner and simply contributing to the vibrancy and vitality of our amazing city.”

While this exciting development offers a small ray of light in a dark year, safety remains the theater's top commitment in opening to the public. In addition to monitoring the situation with assistance from local and state officials, the venue will also release public safety guidelines before the first show. Those with season tickets will get to keep their original seats as assigned, and in the case of a cancelation, options will be available for credit or refund. Subscribers can get the scoop here. Right now Broadway fans can secure an eight-show package starting at $288, so if you've been itching to see Hamilton like the rest of us, you might want to jump on it!
