Late Saturday afternoon, emergency services responded to a structure fire in Victoria. The building on fire is located near the intersection of Fort and Richmond Streets. Victoria Police and Victoria Fire Association 730 responded to the structure fire and were still at the scene as of 4:30 p.m. The multi-level building, known as the Turner Building, has long been vacant. Developers have pitched replacing the property with a six-storey rental building , including 55 residential market units, ground floor commercial space and a surface parking lot, though the proposal process is still underway. Just after 5 p.m., a spokesperson from the City of Victoria told CHEK News, “We have closed off a portion of road on Richmond as well. It’s not safe for crews to enter the building so we are attacking from the exterior.”
