DANVILLE, Va. (WSET) — The entire region has waited with baited breath for the Caesar's Virginia Casino's opening in Danville on Tuesday, Dec. 17.

Thousands of people flocked to Danville from near and far, ready to cash in on everything Caesar's has to offer. They said they hit the jackpot with the casino's opening.

Guests said it's like stepping into a Vegas casino, right here at home.

"To us, this is just like Vegas, 'cause we see it on TV," the Carters said. "It's just like Vegas here."

People of all ages came from near and far to take part in some of the opening day fun.

"They're very excited. I have not seen that many elderly people so excited in my life, they're dancing and everything," Brandi Wilson said.

Many opening day casino-goers said they've been enjoying the temporary casino for months since it opened in May, but they said the new location is a major upgrade.

Folks ABC13 spoke with said they're excited to see the growth Caesar's brings to the River City.

Some were lucky on Tuesday and walked out as winners.

While others said they were just there for the experience.

"It was fun losing. I had fun losing," Graves said. "We had a terrific time, and guess what? We'll be back!"

Folks in Danville said they're excited to see how Caesar's Virginia helps the area grow both economically and socially, while they get to have a little bit of fun.
