CALHOUN COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– The Sandy Run Calhoun Volunteer Fire District says the council has voted to change the effective date of the new ordinance to July 1.They say this legally allows them to resume running calls until a contract for services can be agreed upon with the new county fire district for the new fiscal year. This comes after the council passed a tax ordinance that will consolidate all fire districts into one tax district, and originally gave firefighters full funding through June 30.The ordinance will raise property taxes to hire 4 full-time firefighters and 1 administrator.
