CAMBRIDGE, Md. – Three people, including a juvenile, were arrested last week following a chase in a stolen vehicle. At around 11:15 p.m. Sunday, officers on patrol in the area of Elm Street and Race Street reportedly saw a vehicle that was acting suspicious and conducted a computer check, which revealed that the car was reported stolen out of Ocean City. Officers tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver allegedly failed to stop and led officers on a chase. The vehicle eventually came to a stop in the 600 block of Douglas Street, at which time three subjects reportedly fled on foot. Two of the suspects were quicky taken into custody, with a third being apprehended after getting into another vehicle that arrived to pick them up. The suspects were identified as 18-year-old Melvin Hitch, 18-year-old Jamal Prunell, and a 16-year-old, all from Salisbury. The juvenile was released to the custody of a parent/guardian after being charged with motor vehicle unlawful taking. Hitch was charged with motor vehicle unlawful taking and failure to obey a lawful order. Purnell was charged with motor vehicle unlawful taking, driving without license, reckless driving, negligent driving, and numerous traffic charges. Both were held without bond.
