Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo was impressive enough in a season that saw the Sun Devils win a Big 12 championship and take Texas to double overtime in the Peach Bowl. He has one more chance to raise his stock before the NFL draft commences April 24-26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Skattebo is ASU's lone representative at the NFL combine, which takes place this week at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. There are medical exams and interviews to start the festivities, with formal drills following. The running backs, quarterbacks and wide receivers will participate in drills at 1 p.m. on Saturday and air on the NFL Network. He was a first-team All-American , racking up 1,711 rushing yards, which broke the school's single-season mark of 1,642 set by Eno Benjamin back in 2018. His 21 rushing touchdowns were also a single-season best. Skattebo was also integral in the passing game, with 45 receptions for 605 yards and another three scores. In the Big 12 championship game win over Iowa State and playoff loss to Texas, he rolled up 450 rushing plus receiving yards and accounted for six touchdowns, one a 42-yard pass in the Sun Devils' double-overtime loss to Texas. He earned Offensive MVP honors in the Peach Bowl, marking the first time in 26 years that honor went to a player on the losing team. Heading into this season Skattebo (5 feet 11, 215 pounds), was not on the radar of NFL scouts. He cut some weight during the offseason and increased his speed, putting him back in the conversation. Skattebo has been projected as high as a third-round selection and yet others have him going undrafted. ESPN draft guru Mel Kiper Jr. recently ranked Skattebo as the eighth-best running back on his NFL draft board, behind multiple players Skattebo outplayed in 2024. Others Kiper pegs higher are Heisman Trophy runner-up Ashton Jeanty of Boise State, Omarion Hampton of North Carolina, LeQuint Allen of Syracuse, Dylan Sampson of Tennessee, Quinshon Judkins of Ohio State, Kaleb Johnson of Iowa and RJ Harvey of Central Florida. Among the teams that could be in the mix for a running back are the Dallas Cowboys , New York Giants , Denver Broncos , Pittsburgh Steelers and Las Vegas Raiders .
