One cowboy, one master distiller, and two rock climbers come together in the new Carbondale short film about Western Americana.

When Canon chose Steve Tobenkin to produce a short film with their new camera, the C700, he knew Carbondale was the place to do it. Under the direction of Tyler Stableford, a world renowned cinematographer from Aspen, the new film is already turning heads.

The short film, “The Calling: A Portrait Of Life In The High Country,” features two rock climbers, a master distiller, and a cowboy from the Carbondale area. The challenge was to capture the feel of Western Americana as well as test the camera in several different conditions like low light, elevation, and dynamic range.

Although the film is only 5 minutes, the team came together to create a moving portrait of Carbondale and the people who live there. “The Calling” premiered at Marble Distilling on December 5th and has received nothing but praise from the locals. See the Carbondale short film below:
