Carnival Cruise reps traveled to Prospect, Virginia, in Prince Edward County last week to offer 15-year-old Darian Lipscomb the deal of a lifetime.
Darian Lipscomb has been a fan of the Carnival Cruise line since he was nine years old. That's when he went on his first cruise, and in his post-cruise excitement, made @CarnivalCruise his Snapchat handle. That was in 2012 when Snapchat was in its infancy; back then, having a Snapchat handle wasn't even a glimmer in Carnival Cruise's (or any other major corporation's) eye.
Last week, Carnival Cruise decided to make a deal with Darian and gave it a pretty exciting build-up. Custom-made signs featuring the cruise line's new spokesperson (or "chief fun officer"), Shaquille O'Neill, were scattered all over the small town of Prospect.

Then, on Tuesday night, cruise line reps rang the teen's doorbell.
“I answered the door, walked outside and saw my name on a big truck. I was really surprised,” Darian said.

The reps offered Darian a free trip for his family aboard its newest ship, Carnival Horizon, in exchange for his Snapchat handle. He accepted the offer, so he and his family will head to Barcelona for the maiden voyage of the ship--a 13-day cruise around Spain, Italy, Greece, and more. The net worth of the trip is $5,000, plus flights, hotels and other special surprises for Darian and his family.
