Carrie Fisher; actress, author, Rebel Princess, and overall breath of fresh air in a world of Hollywood BS has passed away at 60 years old.
Famous for her iconic role as Princess Leia, this last Tuesday of 2016 we say goodbye to yet another much loved legend, Carrie Fisher. After suffering from a massive heart attack on December 23, the actress left us early morning on December 27.
Family spokesperson Simon Halls confirmed the news to The Hollywood Reporter:
“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning. She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly."
Daughter of Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher, Carrie created a name for herself on the silver screen. She was beautiful, hilarious, talented, honest, and was overall a famous face women and girls could actually look up to.
After the news broke shocked celebrities have been sharing their appreciation for Fisher’s life work.
From her iconic role in Star Wars to her infectious personality, even down to her brutal honesty with her struggles with addiction and mental health. Carrie will be greatly missed as a much loved fixture in Hollywood.
Her mother, Debbie Reynolds, went to Facebook and lamented her daughter; “Thank you to everyone who has embraced the gifts and talents of my beloved and amazing daughter. I am grateful for your thoughts and prayers that are now guiding her to her next stop. Love Carrie’s Mother.”

Fellow female comedian and actress Margaret Cho also praised Carrie, what she chose to do with her experiences, and a message to those who may be struggling;
“We just lost a great ally for mental health and addiction. Be strong, be as strong as she’d want you to be. Rest in paradise @carrieffisher.”
Even BB-8, the newest Star Wars Droid, weighed in on his thoughts of our Princess’ passing:
Upon this news, a resounding solemn groan has fallen upon us all. We get it 2016… we get it. There have been a slew of iconic stars becoming permanent fixtures in our universe. We’ve said goodbye to too many beautiful souls and talents we’ve all loved and grown up with. With only a week left in 2016, and the passing of George Michael just two days before, I think I speak for all of us when I say we’ve had it.
So join me in true Carrie Fisher fashion by simultaneously flipping off the remaining days of 2016 while we hope for a better New Year ahead. With a heavy heart, we all say goodbye to an iconic actress and wonderful soul Carrie Fisher. Rest In Peace Princess.
