The first First Lady will be turning 288 years old in June.
Martha Washington's birthday is on June 13, and Mount Vernon is preparing a soiree (on Saturday, June 1) befitting the first First Lady. Come celebrate on the mansion's lush grounds and wish Lady Washington a happy birthday!
As part of the festivities, there will be two naturalization ceremonies taking place on the property. The children's ceremony will be at 11 a.m., while the adult ceremony will be at 1:30 p.m. What better way to celebrate the First Lady than with celebrating people beginning their new lives in the United States?
Stroll through Mount Vernon's serene gardens and tour the mansion's grand interior. Guests can even take a picture with the First Lady herself on the mansion's piazza – It's a selfie opportunity you won't want to miss!
Mount Vernon was the home of George and Martha Washington and is one of the country's most iconic historic sites. About 85 million people have visited the property since it first opened publicly in 1860. That's a lot of party guests throughout the years!
Did you know Mount Vernon offers a shuttle service? It's free with standard admission and takes guests to the neighboring Pioneer Farm and Distillery & Gristmill sites. Find out more here.
Mount Vernon also offers various discounts for military veterans and Purple Heart recipients. If you qualify, there will be instructions provided during check-out to receive the discount.
The birthday soiree will take place Saturday, June 1, 2019, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Mount Vernon. Guests will pay regular admission. You can find more information here.
