HOLLAND TWP. — Chalo Indian Kitchen is open for business.

The newest restaurant in Holland Township opened to much anticipation in the former Rock'N Roosta on Friday, Oct. 18.

News the restaurant was coming to Holland first broke in September, when The Shops at Westshore made an initial announcement. Shortly after, co-owner Sharmila Rajeshkumar told The Sentinel the plan was to open in November.

But, fortunately for food lovers everywhere, the restaurant was able to open a few weeks earlier.

Rajeshkumar said they're "absolutely thrilled" at the response the business has received so far and look forward to serving the community.

"Thank you to each and every one of our customers for supporting us," Rajeshkumar wrote in an email. "Their positive feedback means the world to us, and we can't wait to continue serving them with exceptional quality and service."

The opening marks the second restaurant for Rajeshkumar and her husband, who also operate Grand Indian Cuisine in Grand Rapids.

Chalo follows a grab-and-go concept to match the name — which means "Let's Go!" — Rajeshkumar said. Orders can be placed via walk in, phone or online.

Customers can expect a variety of curries served with naan, an appetizer and rice. Other highlights include butter chicken, paneer butter masala, lamb curry, tandoori chicken and mango lassi.

The restaurant recently posted their full menu on Facebook, showcasing a wide range of items, including biryani and rice, wraps, specialty desserts and drinks.

"We believe that good food and exceptional service are the ideal recipe for an unforgettable customer experience,” Rajeshkumar said.
