In a stunning upset at Les Murakami Stadium on Monday, Division II Chaminade took down Wichita State behind a dominant performance from former University of Hawaii slugger Safea Villaruz-Mauai. The Waiakea graduate powered the Silverswords to a 6-4 victory, going 2-for-5 with two home runs and five RBIs. The win marks Chaminade’s first Division I victory since the program returned in 2024 following a four-decade hiatus. Ryan Shimabukuro picked up the win in relief, throwing 1.1 scoreless innings to close out the game.
