Your ticket to the event will get you access into the Hirshhorn Museum at a time when there are no tourists, so you’ll be able to properly enjoy the exhibit after-hours. You’ll also be able to enjoy beverages and food from participating local restaurants in D.C. Several DJs will play tunes to keep you pumped and in the mood.
The exhibit itself provides a history of how art trends in the '80s have shaped artistic leanings today. According to the organizers,
“Razor-sharp, witty, satirical and deeply subversive, these nearly 150 works examine the origins and rise of a new generation of artists in 1980s New York who blurred the lines between art, entertainment and commerce, a shift that continues to define contemporary art today.”The exhibit will be displaying many forms of art, from print to sculpture to photography to pop-ups, as well as the creative uses of many otherwise everyday objects. You can find a list of participating artists here. No Kings Collective will also be displaying works created exclusively for the $19.89 event. You can find out more information on the exhibit and event, as well as both No Kings Collective and the Hirshhorn Museum, here.
