The Richmond Flying Squirrels are getting ready to kick off the 2018 season, and they have a lot in store for this year!

Springtime means a lot of things for a lot of people, but for sports fanatics, baseball is the reason for the season. And if you're a Richmonder getting ready for another great year cheering on the Flying Squirrels, you have a lot to be excited about. The ninth season for the Richmond Flying Squirrels will begin on April 13 with a game against the Reading Fightin Phils. This special night will feature a dueling fireworks show, as well as a celebrity appearance by Atlanta Braves World Series champion and five-time MLB All-Star Fred McGriff, who will throw the season's first pitch. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m., and the game will kick off at 7:05 p.m. But don't sweat it if you miss the first game, because you'll have plenty of opportunities to have some fun in the stands this season. Here are just a few exciting promotions to anticipate this year!

At Bark in the Park, dogs are given free admission so that they can enjoy the game by your side (or on your lap!). Happening on April 16, April 30, May 7, July 16, August 20, and August 27, Bark in the Park is typically paired with another promotion, such as free dog portraits, bobblehead giveaways, and even a silver dog bowl giveaway.

Each week features a different design on a variety of hat styles, from beanies to fedoras to cowboy hats. "Free Shirt Friday" is the same idea, but with t-shirts of different designs. Bobble heads, beach towels, and baseball bats will be given away on certain nights as well.
Live Music

Fireworks will be on every Thursday and Saturday night (unless the team has an away game), as well as a few special themed nights, such as Harry Potter Night and Star Wars Night.
