Are you looking for a unique place to go this weekend? You should check out the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo!
The Denver Zoo is so large and well-known that it can sometimes overshadow it’s cousin to the south, but trust me when I say the two are completely different experiences! The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is unlike anything else in the state, or even the country. It’s also America’s only mountain-side zoo! It was named the 5th best zoo in the nation in 2015, while the Denver Zoo came in at 7th. Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is focused on sharing the wonders of the natural world with kids of all ages and providing memories to last a lifetime. You can do more than just look from afar at this amazing zoo! Discover 119 species, 30 of which are endangered. Get up close and personal with the gorgeous giraffes, and don’t miss the chance to hand-feed them. Enjoy the Mountaineer Sky Ride, a refurbished chairlift that lets you soar over your favorite animal exhibits and get a real bird's-eye view of the zoo.

They’re open year-round from 9AM to 5PM, with last admission at 4PM. Check out their website for more information about their holiday hours. The zoo is also one of only a handful of accredited zoos in the nation that operates without local tax support. They are an independent, non-profit organization, meaning that they depend on admissions, membership dues, corporate sponsors and grants for funding. Show them your support next time you’re looking for a fun day out! The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo genuinely is an experience you won’t want to miss out on!
