Here are today’s particulars.

Jameson Taillon, RHP vs. Merrill Kelly, RHP

Jameson Taillon is coming off a very good year that some say is attributable mostly to Wrigley Field being a favorable pitchers’ park in 2024.

That could very well be the case. In 15 starts at home last year, Taillon posted a 2.18 ERA, compared to 4.58 in 13 starts on the road.

Yikes. The only data we have on Taillon vs. Arizona as a Cub is one start, Sept. 8, 2023 , when he threw six one-hit innings against them at Chase Field. That’d work.

Merrill Kelly made only 13 starts last year due to a teres major injury (part of the shoulder). In nine starts after his return he posted a 4.96 ERA. But he seems totally healthy now.

His last start before missing four months with the injury was against the Cubs, April 15, 2024 at Chase Field. He threw five innings and allowed one run.

What’s most interesting about that game is this: Of the 18 Cubs who appeared in that game (which they wound up winning 3-2), 11 are no longer in the Cubs organization. There really has been a wholesale roster turnover in the last year.

The charts below are from 2024.

Today’s game is on Marquee Sports Network. You can find out if Marquee is available via a provider in your area here.

Here is the complete MLB.com live streaming page for today.

Please visit our SB Nation Diamondbacks site AZ Snakepit . If you do go there to interact with D-backs fans, please be respectful, abide by their individual site rules and serve as a good representation of Cub fans in general and BCB in particular.

The 2025 Game Thread procedure will be identical to last year’s.

You’ll find the game preview posted separately on the front page two hours before game time (90 minutes for some early day games following night games).

At the same time, a StoryStream containing the preview will also post on the front page, titled “Cubs vs. (Team) (Day of week/date) game threads.” It will contain every post related to that particular game, including the First Pitch Thread and the overflow thread, as well as the recap when it’s published. The recap will also live on the front page as a separate post.

You will also be able to find the preview, First Pitch Thread and the overflow thread in the box marked “Chicago Cubs Game Threads” at the bottom of the front page (you can also find them in this section link ). The StoryStream for each game can also be found in that section.

The First Pitch thread will post at five minutes before game time, then an overflow thread at 90 minutes after the scheduled game time.

Discuss amongst yourselves.
