After nearly 40 years in business, the famous Hard Rock Cafe in downtown Chicago permanently closed its doors on March 29. The tourist attraction,
established in 1986 at 63 W. Ontario St., announced the closure
in January , according to ABC7 News. The spot was one of
the chain's oldest locations and a decades-old fixture in Chicago's River North neighborhood, best known for its giant neon guitar illuminating the streets surrounding it. Here's what we know about Hard Rock Cafe's closure.
Why did Hard Rock Cafe in Chicago close?
Though the company hasn't announced the reason for the Chicago site's closure, Hard Rock Cafe is reportedly attempting to help the site's employees through the transition. Spokesperson Jonathon Goldman told
Block Club Chicago that Hard Rock Cafe is working to offer current employees “outplacement support and resources” and inviting them to apply for other open positions within the company. "Hard Rock has enjoyed serving the Windy City community for nearly 40 years and playing a role in the city’s celebrated dining culture," he said. "We are so grateful to our incredible team members, community partners and fans for their support and memories all this time."
