Bad news for fans of cow costumes and free chicken.

It seems the well-known fast-food franchise Chick-fil-A has decided to postpone its current its usual annual event called Cow Appreciation Day. During this celebration, which has been around for the past 15 years, customers could dress up as a cow and receive free food. However, this year, due to the current pandemic, that certain celebration will not be taking place.

Although the event is postponed, the Georgia-based franchise has no intention of canceling it completely. They plan on hosting it at a future date when the country gets back on track. They're also still allowing fans to participate by way of a Pinterest board for activities, such as bingo and connect-the-dots.

The company released a statement: "We made this decision with the communities we serve in mind, keeping Safe Service as our highest priority at this time .... Until we can gather again in person and celebrate our Cows, we have created a few fun ways to keep the spirit of Cow Appreciation Day alive this summer."

At this moment, the company does not know when Cow Appreciation Day will be celebrated, but fans can check the website for updates.

"Our restaurants are locally owned and Operators are following the guidelines of their individual communities when it comes to expanding service offerings," the company added in their statement. "This means Chick-fil-A restaurants will open for carry-out and in-restaurant dining on different timelines. It also means individual restaurants may close again if needed."

Despite states allowing certain areas to reopen for dining indoors, Chick-fil-A has resolved to stick with drive-thru and curbside pickup only.

Let's have some fun ... Have you participated in Cow Appreciation Day in the past? Post your photos in the comments, and let's show CFA the love!

Hi! I've lived in the NOVA region most of my life, repping our sports' teams, finding unique and cozy coffee shops to indulge in, and exploring nature hikes I've never visited. I used to live under the mountains in Roanoke, VA as well as a handful of beaches in NC, but good ol' Northern VA had always called me back! I write novels for fun (currently working on a fantasy series that won't have a terrible ending like Game of Thrones, right?), and enjoy reading and diving into new experiences that help me grow.
