Travis Kelce 's future with the Kansas City Chiefs has been a recurrent topic in the NFL in the past two years. The three-time Super Bowl champion appeared to be flirting with the idea of retiring during the 2024 season, but he quickly shut speculation down.

In the wake of the Philadelphia Eagles ' 40-22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, many thought we had seen the last of Kelce in the league until the player confirmed he would return for another season.

Kelce, just like his partner in crime, Patrick Mahomes , had a discreet individual campaign, posting 97 receptions for 823 yards (career-low) and only three touchdowns (career-low).

The Chiefs dealt with multiple injuries, especially in the wide receiver room, but their experience and Kelce's presence, at times, helped them win games.

NFL insider Jeremy Fowler offered a positive update on Kelce's offseason activities. In a SportsCenter clip shared Saturday morning, Fowler revealed the tight end lost weight ahead of the 2025 season.

"He's expected back for minicamp," Fowler said. "He'll address the media and be on the practice field, all that fun stuff. And he will debut a bit of a slimmer look. He's told people close to him that he's lost about 25 pounds this offseason. [He] played a little heavier in 2024, it was sort of a thing he vowed to change it and he has.

"As we talk about before, this could be the last dance for him; mid-30s, still a productive player, they wanna go to him on the third down, but declining a little bit. So he's trying to be slimmer and he's gone hardcore this offseason to make it work.

The Chiefs have different expectations and goals after being dethroned by the Eagles in February. They are back with the pack that tries to stop the NFC East franchise from winning another Super Bowl.

Having a rejuvenated, more explosive Kelce could certainly help their offense. They will also have Rashee Rice healthy again, giving another weapon to Mahomes.
