WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) - With Wichita Falls-area lakes just a few percentage points away from overflowing, the Wichita Falls City Council voted to lift stage one drought restrictions.

There are now no special restrictions on watering and water usage. The city has been above the 65% lake level threshold that triggers stage one for quite some time, but it wasn’t until the Council met Tuesday morning that they ultimately lifted the drought designation.

Numerous rounds of ground-soaking storms moved across the area throughout April, lifting the area from the verge of drought to lakes that are on the brink of being completely full.
