Columbia, SC (WOLO) — The City of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department are temporarily closing a portion of the Riverfront Park for needed work. According to City officials, beginning Tuesday June 17, they will close the South end of Riverfront Park located at 312 Laurel Street. Officials say the closure is needed in order for contractors to replace asphalt paving and pour concrete in a section across from the Columbia Canal. City officials say work is slated to be completed by June 21. In the meantime, authorities are asking those who want to go to the public park to visit the north end at 4122 River Drive, Granby Park at 100 Catawba Street, or the Saluda Riverwalk at 650 Candi Lane.
