The city of Wichita Falls warns the mosquito population is expected to increase because of recent rain.

"The large mosquitos that are typically seen with flood waters are nuisance mosquitos, not disease carrying," the city said in a press release Thursday. "Residents are recommended to wear an EPA approved repellant."

The release said vector control workers will begin spraying mosquito populated areas when weather conditionsallow for maximum results.
