Perhaps one of the creepiest movies ever has made it’s mark on our city. Tourists from all over make sure to visit the Exorcist Steps as they explore D.C.

The city of Washington D.C. has a lot of rich and interesting history, just in case you didn’t already know that. However, Washington D.C. is home to arguably one of the most creepy movie scenes in history: The Exorcist steps. If you haven’t seen The Exorcist, I can’t say that I’d recommend it because I am a huge chicken and I admit I didn’t sleep for three nights straight, but if you love a good scare this is the movie to watch. What makes this movie so scary is the time it took place in. The original Exorcist is nearly 40 years old, which for some reason gives it a creepier appeal. The famous scene in the movie where Father Damien Karras throws himself from the window of a home in Georgetown and tumbles down 97 stairs took place right in Washington D.C. If you go down Northwest M Street towards the Key Bridge, on the right you’ll see an Exxon which is where the bottom of the 97 steps is located. If you’re feeling brave, visit the stairs at night. I wish you the best of luck!   [gallery size="large" ids="115,116,117,120"]
