One Colorado Springs kennel is going viral for the best reason possible: every pet was adopted two days in a row.

While many animal shelters are overcrowded and underfunded, the Pikes Peak Humane Society has pulled off a holiday miracle. The organization started a “Home for the Holidays” promotion, encouraging the local community to adopt during the holidays. Their promotion paid off when 25 cats and 23 dogs were adopted - and the kennel was left completely empty. To celebrate, every staff member and volunteer jumped in the empty kennels to record a quick celebration video. It has since garnered 190,000 plus views and the numbers continue to climb. The Empty Kennels!

What happens when your last available dog gets adopted? Your staff and volunteers jump into the kennels to celebrate! We've adopted out 25 cats and 23 dogs so far during our #HomefortheHolidays promotion, and for the second day in a row, we've adopted out ALL of our available dogs! We'll have more dogs available later tonight or tomorrow. Keep those adoptions coming! #HappyTailsHappyHearts www.hsppr.org/adopt

Gretchen Pressley, spokesperson for the Humane Society, says the holidays can be one of the best times to adopt because the whole family is involved with the process of acclimating. Although some critics have said the return rate for holiday pets may be high, the Humane Society says research shows otherwise when it comes to open adoption events. The Home for the Holidays promotion has since found homes for 308 pets - and the shelter celebrated a third night of empty kennels on Dec. 27. Their work doesn't end here, though. If you would like to sponsor a pet’s stay or adopt from the Pikes Peak Humane Society, you can check their roster here.
