Pat yourself on the back, Colorado! We pulled together an astounding $36.1 million in nonprofit donations on Colorado Gives Day, December 5.
In increments ranging from $10 to $1 million, more than 153,000 donations were given to 2,309 area nonprofits during the 24-hour Colorado Gives Day effort on Tuesday, December 5. Donations totaled
$36,129,285.
"We've watched in awe as this annual statewide movement has grown from raising $8 million in its first year to over $36.1 million in its eighth," said Jim Reuter, CEO of FirstBank, who co-sponsors the event. "We're incredibly honored to be the corporate partner for one of the most impactful 24-hour giving initiatives this nation has ever seen."
Last year's Colorado Gives Day raised $33.85 million, almost $2.3 million less than this year's total.
According to the press release from the Community First Foundation (also a sponsor), the first donation came in online at 12:05 a.m. toward the Boys & Girls Club of
Larimer County, with the last one (to 350 Colorado) just making the 12 a.m. deadline at 11:59 p.m. The Schlessman Family YMCA was the recipient of the largest gift.
But just because Colorado Gives Day is over doesn't mean you've lost your opportunity to contribute to the nonprofits close to your heart!
ColoradoGives.org accepts donations year-round and is a trustworthy conduit for funding our state's charitable organizations.

Since the first Colorado Gives Day in 2010, more than $181 million have been raised for Colorado nonprofits.
