Is there ever a bad season in Colorado? Most would argue no and with the winter ahead of us, I would have to agree. With winter, comes fun Colorado events. Here are the Colorado Ice Festivals you need to attend.

Ouray Ice Festival:

January 19th–22nd, 2017

For three days and three nights Ouray is an ice climbing mecca. Though it’s an ice festival of a different sort, Ouray’s celebration is one of the most spectacular. Whether you are climbing or just there to watch the world’s best ice climbing talent this festival is not one to miss. Make sure you stay for the nightly events to enjoy presentations, music food, dance parties and a live and silent auction!

Budweiser International Snow Sculpting Championship:

January  24th–February 5th, 2017

Colorado Ice Festivals Bringing the magic of snow to life! Teams from around the world spend a week in Breckenridge carving twenty-ton, twelve foot tall blocks of snow over 65 hours into detailed snow sculptures.

Rio Frio Ice Fest:

January 28th-29th, 2017

Colorado Ice Festivals The Rio Frio Ice Fest takes place in the middle of the beautiful San Luis valley near the New Mexico border. This festival has its all- Scavenger hunts, snowman-building contests, the Rio Frio 5k and a fire-and-ice party celebrate winter in Alamosa. If you are runner you have to experience the Rio Frio 5k, the entire course in ON the iced over Rio Grande River.

Lake City Ice Climbing Festival:

February TBD, 2017

Top-roped and lead-speed climbing competitions take place on Lake City's beautiful blue wall of ice. Get out there and climb for awesome prizes and the best climbs you’ll find all winter.

Cripple Creek Ice Festival:

February 10th–12th & 18th–19th, 2017

Colorado Ice Festivals This is a spectacular event. Go watch artists use chainsaws to carve beautiful works of art along Cripple Creek’s main street. This two weekend event has interactive sculptures, ice slides and mazes, carnival-type games made of ice, street vendors and of course an ice bar and and ice liquor luge to keep the parents, and the of-age warm!
