The lineup for next summer's Colorado Shakespeare Festival has been released!
For its 61st season, June 8 through August 12, 2018, the Colorado Shakespeare Festival (CSF) will explore the themes of love and ambition with three Shakespeare plays -- and for the first time in many years -- two non-Shakespeare plays. As the nation's second-oldest Shakespeare festival, CSF's 2018 lineup is noteworthy for several reasons: this is the first time CSF has presented "Richard III" on an indoor stage, and the choice to produce both "Richard III" and "Edward III" is an acknowledgment of the 150 years of strife in English history, bookending the historical period with history plays that lie on either end of the time period. Also, the festival features the CSF directing debuts for two accomplished directors, Brendan Fox and Kevin Rich. So, without further "ado about nothing," below is the lineup for the 2018 season!
“Love's Labour's Lost” by William Shakespeare

“Richard III” by William Shakespeare

The history play "Richard III" is the story of Shakespeare's most malicious king, who manages to take the throne, only for everything to fall apart. Clever and revealing, it's a telling exploration into lies, honor, and ambition that still rings true today.
“Cyrano de Bergerac” by Edmond Rostand
July 6 to August 11, 2018 | Mary Rippon Outdoor Theatre
Often referred to as one of the greatest love stories ever written, "Cyrano de Bergerac" is the romantic comedy that inspired Steve Martin's film "Roxanne." It's a love triangle for the ages!
“You Can't Take It With You” by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman
July 20 to August 12, 2018 | University Theatre
Let the battle between traditional and eccentric begin! This hilarious classic play is the story of Alice, who introduces her boyfriend's more conservative family to her own more free-thinking relatives. Spoiler alert: fireworks ensue.
“Edward III” by William Shakespeare and Thomas Kyd
August 5, 2018 | Mary Rippon Outdoor Theatre
As is CSF's tradition, this history play will have one single production on August 5, which will tell the story of an English king whose lust and humiliation end up launching his country into 150 years of strife and bloodshed.
