A 45-year-old man from Columbia was arrested Monday in connection with two sexual misconduct cases, according to a Columbia Police Department press release.

The release said Shields followed women around a store while masturbating in two different cases.

The first incident happened on Dec. 11, 2024 in the 3600 block of Rangeline Street. The second incident occurred on Feb. 28 in the 1900 block of North Providence Road, police said.

Prosecutors charged Shields on Monday with sexual misconduct in the first degree, a misdemeanor, in relation to the incident Friday.

According to court documents, Shields currently has two other cases pending against him for the same offense, one in which he was found guilty for on Feb. 6.

In that case, Shields was masturbating while talking with a woman at the Indian Hills Dog Park.

Shields was released from jail on bond while also awaiting sentencing for the store incident on Dec. 11, court documents said.

The sentencing for the Dec. 11 incident is Tuesday.

Prosecutors said in court documents that they believe no woman is safe from further similar conduct from Shields since he has "no regard for his conduct or the law in that he is acting this way three day before his sentencing."

Shields is currently being held in Boone County Jail, according to the jail's records.
