Columbia Play Project has launched a search for a full-time executive director as it advances toward its next phase of planning. Founded in 2019, the Vancouver nonprofit aims to create a children’s museum in Clark County . Now nearing the end of its planning phase — which has included strategic planning, site selection, business development and community outreach — the organization is preparing to hire someone to carry the vision forward. This new leader will be responsible for executing strategic and business plans, managing a feasibility process, and steering the overall growth and operations of Columbia Play Project. “It’s beneficial to have a paid, full-time staff member that spends 40 hours a week doing this work and bringing forward their depth of experience,” said Jeanne Bennett, the organization’s current executive director. Bennett launched Columbia Play Project in 2019 alongside several other local residents. She retired from her professional career in 2018 but has served as volunteer executive director for the nonprofit ever since. Bennett will continue serving on Columbia Play Project’s board of directors once an executive director is hired.
